Self identity

self identity is the mental and conceptual understanding and persistent regard that sentient beings hold for their own existence. In other words, it is the sum total of a being's knowledge and understanding of his or her self ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Self-concept).

I was trying to understand my task as a part of understanding my self, which i must say was pretty hard. while trying to figure this out, my thoughts were moving from the past to the presen an then back again and i realised that i couldn't just ignore the fact that i have changed so much over the years, so i narrowed my thoughts to the present. I began by describing things in my life like objects, habits or several other things that i do. the basic id ea was to make an animation that includes pieces from my independent work, that are related to each other and to myself and that represent the feelings that i experience while doing this project.

i decided to make a video with a bit of a walkthrough feeling like you are watching a story and that i would use an image of my face so that i can state myself and show some things i will make that will demonstrate the confusion that i feel about myself.

for me to create the avatar i need to break my work down into parts. i would like to start by showing a tree that would whirl around and lead to an alternative dimension, a weird city where i would own one of the houses and the camera will then move through the door. i thought i could make a room inside the house but on the other hand a box floating in the room will be more suitable according to my goal of wanting to show how isolated i am from the outside world. the box can be made by some walls that i will make with watercolours, as i really like working with them and plus they are one of the things i remember doing since forever and so make me feel like home. i would like to make some drawings as well in order to use them as graffiti on the walls, of which one will be covered using the drawing i made with my face. more importantly i will use the 3D capabilities of 3Dmax to "shoot" an interesting video and also model some objects i would like to put in the room as well.

I have finished my video and i tried lots of different camera angles and materials and the outcome is shown below:

this is the tree i had talked about above, which i wanted it to look simple and pleasing to the eyes in order to suit for an introduction.

these are the houses that represent the city and the outside world in the alternative dimension, the one i'm supposed to live in.

The room

for this project we have to make a small render video and show 2 pictures. i made one of the pictures shown, on zbrush, which took me about the same time it took me to creat the video. what i made is a dragon and the chinese chinese signs which mean dragon, if translated in english, as i was born in the year of the dragon according to the chinese calendar.
